We wanted a step up from camping but wanted to save some money with cooking a few meals – Tanglewood fit the bill. Casual – clean and comfortable. Loved the screened in porch – grill and picnic table. Way more comfy than a tent! Perfect location to the Kank and Chocorua where we were hiking.
My mom and I and now my baby, travel to North Conway every summer from CND. We have stayed her for the last 4 years and LOVE it! The husband and wife owners are great! We love the rustic motel rooms!!
We took our dogs on a weekend getaway to Tanglewood. We stayed in a cabin. Chris and Laura were absolutely wonderful. The dogs had a blast swimming and hiking. The cabin was fantastic and had everything we needed. We will be back frequently to visit. I would give 10 stars . Its also close to all the national parks. Do not miss opportunity to stay in a fabulous rustic cabin. We had a firpit a small yard area and even a hammock. You could actually stay right at cabin for full day of swimming and relaxing right in the brook behind property.
Our family went to Conway for a 2 day getaway to enjoy some of the beautiful scenery in the Mt Washington Valley in the fall. Our party consisted of my wife, two daughters and our 2 German Shepherd dogs. When travelling with dogs it is always an additional challenge to find a good place to stay that allows your 4 legged friends. Tanglewood was a terrific choice. We stayed in a cabin which was comfortable and clean. It had a full sized kitchen, microwave and room for all of us to feel comfortable. The grounds are well maintained with a small waterfall and stream running in the back. The staff was absolutely incredible and went out of the way to be helpful. One thing to note: This is absolutely not a luxurious modern hotel in fact some of the furnishings and items in the rooms are older but completely functional. .If Luxury is what you want you are in the wrong place. If you are looking for a clean,friendly, comfortable, pet friendly place with staff and management that really care you have found your vacation spot. We will definitely stop in again when we are in the area
The tittle of this tells the whole story. This was planned beginning in November of 2017 and happened this week. I cannot tell you enough about the owners. Everything was exactly as promised. 20 mins. to everything in the area including Storyland and Kancamagus Hwy., the highlight for me personally. Be prepared the brook temperature will get your attention. This is a older location but is well kept, clean and comfortable. We used 3 cabins and had one person in a motel room. There are some noises from Rte. 16 but were not a huge distraction. Would I return? A rousing yes.
We just had the most relaxing weekend at cottage 9.
Not the biggest or best cottage, but a really simple cabin with a fire pit (very Important to my better half), a picnic table, a babbling brook away from the road and grill (not gas) all away from everyone.

We stayed in a very comfortable motel room for two nights and enjoyed the stay. The room had a deck overlooking a babbling brook, tv, wifi, microwave & small refrig. It is located away from the traffic but within an easy drive to local attractions. The owners are terrific and go out of their way to be helpful. This is THE spot to stay!
We went to this motel the weekend of June 30th 2018 me and my husband. Its a small piece of paradise! Its peacful and calm. The stress go down when you are at tanglewood. We meet the owner Laura. She is a very good person and very helpful. Behind the motel room you have access a little river with little falls and you can swim in. In the motel room you have a mini fridge, coffee maker and microwave. Its perfect for two persons. If you are family, they have some cottages with full kitchen, which is more convenient with child. The rooms are very clean. Its a good little motel to go. We will go again on our next visit in conway.
My family needed a place to stay at last minute due to a family emergency. Tangle wood was very gracious and accommodated us all. The cottages were very clean and had great rustic New England Charm. I appreciated the kitchens to make our meals and appreciated the linens, coffee pots, microwaves and the mini fridge that was in my cabin. I also appreciated the free wi-fi, making my trip smoother. The playground and outside toys were a bonus for the kids in the family.
another great stay here and I will be back again in august. this is a pet friendly motel and cottages and a very quiet and peacefull place to stay. running brook behind the cottages very nice and great sounds with the water going over the falls in rear of cottages.Chris and laura, thanx for another nice stay and will see you again in august.
We stopped on a busy weekend and got the last room. For a place with a full house it was EXTREMELY quiet and peaceful. There was a small babbling brook behind the room that was nice to listen too. The bed was a bit harder than we like but acceptable. We will stay again if in the area.
While we had an family emergcy we stayed with Laura and Chris who where wonderful..They made u feel like family and where very thoughtful…The cottage we had #10 was very clean, warm and all that u needed was there.. I do hope to go back and will stay the same place..you cannot go wrong to look this place up..very pet friendly and children…they r the best
I was a little worried after reading a few reviews, but we had a great stay! The owners were not only nice but extremely accommodating, especially since we got in so late. The cottage we stayed in was clean and very comfortable and I loved the brook behind it! We will definitely be back!
Even though we own a condo in downtown North Conway, we wanted a more wholesome family friendly environment to vacation with our children. That is when we first discovered Tanglewood. This was our third year going to Tanglewood and we love it. Chris and Laura have always been so sweet and treat us like family since day one of our first visit.
As our kids have gotten older they have been able to use more of the amenities that are available on site and enjoy just staying at the cottage instead of always having to go to some attraction. The multiple fire pits spread out though the grounds allow for family time making s’mores and then for adult relaxation after the kids go to bed. We definitely utilized the fire pits. Chris has seasoned firewood on site so you don’t have to go to the gas station when you run out early.
The cottages where clean and cozy and I loved having a kitchen available for making meals. It isn’t the Ritz Carlton but when you go to a cottage in the woods you shouldn’t expect a five star hotel. Some of our favorite things about Tanglewood is the enjoyment of being able to allow our children free reign when playing in a safe environment. They made new friends with other guest that were staying at Tanglewood and really enjoyed themselves. There are several playgrounds around and a wide variety of toys were provided. It was great to see my girls outside making sandcastles, having a tea party by the water, swimming in the brook, and trying to catch frogs. Not something that they would have been able to do downtown.
I would like to say thank you to Chris and Laura for providing such a great place for us to vacation with our family.
We had a wonderful stay. The owners are very helpful and very friendly. The cottage was clean and neat and well stocked with pots, pans and dishes! The screened porch is a perfect bonus. We had fun in the paddle boat and the sound of the stream was nice. The traffic was a little loud during the day but fine at night. The best part is they are pet friendly!
First of all I have to say that the owners were so kind and considerate! We stopped at the front to check in after a 2.5 hour drive. I told the owner that our 4 year old really needed the potty. He immediately handed me the key to our cottage and told me it was OK to finish check in after we took care of our kid’s needs. WOW! Also, fire pits and grills were cleaned every morning and there were lots of clean towels provided every morning as well. Great experience! Very clean cottages. Sand boxes and play areas also kept very clean and neat. Cottage #11 great for little kids as it is right in front of the playground. Our sons loved it!
